Friday ARCA Event Part Of Two Days Of Racing At Popular Facility

TOLEDO, Ohio (July 11, 2016) – The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is headed back to Lucas Oil Raceway, and it’s bringing along the ARCA/CRA Super Series for an all-ARCA double header Friday night, July 22.

LORP2016CardThe 100-lap ARCA/CRA Super Series race will kick off the big night of stock car racing, culminating with the Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 presented by Jive under the lights.

“The track has a history of producing great, exciting racing and the ARCA Racing Series event Friday July 22 under the lights will surely add to that tradition,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “Everyone associated with our series really looks forward to returning to Lucas Oil Raceway.”

The Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 presented by Jive, live on FS1, is scheduled to get the green flag shortly after 9 p.m. Friday night. The race will once again be part of a huge weekend of racing in the Indianapolis area featuring USAC, ARCA and NASCAR.

The on-track activities at Lucas Oil Raceway will include USAC Silver Crown Series open wheel racing action on Thursday, July 21, with the ARCA/CRA Super Series late models and ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards stock car double-header on Friday, July 22. NASCAR’s Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series round out the weekend of racing action at nearby Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Last Year

Two-time ARCA/CRA Super Series champion Travis Braden, in his ARCA Racing Series debut, came from a lap down to win in 2015. Braden, more than four seconds behind leader William Byron with 50 laps to go, caught and passed him with 20 laps remaining and won by more than three seconds.

“I knew we would have a chance, but the way it played out I could never have imagined that,” Travis Braden said. “I was confident we would get back on the lead lap, but I didn’t know how I was going to get the lead.”

The Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 presented by Jive marks the 12th ARCA appearance at Lucas Oil Raceway since its debut there in 1971. Former ARCA winners at LOR include Ramo Stott, Bob Schacht, Davey Allison, Ty Dillon, Frank Kimmel, Brandon Jones and last year’s winner Travis Braden.

Discounted tickets for the Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 are on sale now at several Menards stores in Indiana. The tickets are being offered at $10 off the gate price, and can be purchased up through July 21.

Indiana stores slated to sell the discount tickets include locations in Anderson, Avon, Bloomington, Camby, Carmel, Columbus, Fishers, Fort Wayne East, Fort Wayne South, Fort Wayne West, Greenwood, Indy East, Indy South, Kokomo, Lafayette South, Lebanon, Muncie, Richmond, Terre Haute and West Lafayette.

Raceway Schedule

There are two practice sessions for the Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 from 1:35 – 2:20, followed by final practice from 3:00 – 3:45. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is at 5:30. Pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions begin at 8:30 with the green flag waving just after 9:00.  The ARCA/CRA Super Series feature will proceed the ARCA Racing Series event at 7:00.
