One Super Late Model racer will have a question to answer Saturday night, September 8 at Lucas Oil Raceway.

Would you like to go home with a $500 check or would you like a starting spot in the inaugural Speed51 Super Select Super Late Model All-Star Race in Indianpolis?

That question will need to be answered by the winner of “The Open” qualifying race held prior to the start of the $10,000 “Winner-Take-All Speed51 Super Select.  Race officials announced the additional $500 bonus check for “The Open” Tuesday afternoon.

“The additional five-hundred-dollar bonus put up by race officials will add even more excitement to what should be one of the best short track racing events of the year,” said Speed51.com Editor Brandon Paul.  “We hope to see a strong crop of drivers come out and attempt to race their way into one of the best fields of Super Late Model racers you’ll see anywhere.”

If the winner of “The Open” qualifying race decides to take the money and run, the second-place finisher will be offered a starting spot in the Speed51 Super Select.  Likewise, the $500 bonus will be given to the second-place finisher if the winner of the “The Open” accepts the starting spot.

In the case that more than six cars enter “The Open,” two starting spots will become available for the Speed51 Super Select.  The $500 bonus would then go to the highest finisher in the qualifying race that doesn’t accept their starting spot in the main event.

“The Open” is currently slated to be a 30-lap race with the starting field set during time trials.

The Speed51 Super Select will be hosted by Track Enterprises and sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association (CRA).  A pair of 75-lap features will be contested that evening, one for the Super Late Models and another for the USAC Silver Crown Series.
