Saturday Weather Too Wet; Sunday Forecast Dry

(Nashville, TN) Drivers, teams, and fans from all over the country have converged in the Music City for this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series/Super Late Model doubleheader race at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.  Unfortunately, Saturday weather was too wet so the racing portion of the event has been moved to Sunday afternoon, where the forecast is calling for dry conditions and highs in the 70’s.  The green flag for racing is set for just after 1:00 PM.  Tickets will be available at the gate.

Sunday’s running of the General Tire Music City 200 presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions will mark the fifth straight year that the ARCA Menards Series has visited the historic track.  What makes the show so special, is the fact that ARCA is paired up with three of the top Super Late Model series in the country for a racing doubleheader.  The North-South Super Late Model Challenge 100 presented by Team Construction has 35 different competitors entered from three different racing series.  The event is co-sanction by the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS, the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, and the CARS Tour.

Both types of cars were able to complete practice on Saturday before rains hit and will start the event based on practice times.  Jasper, GA driver Chandler Smith was fastest in ARCA Menards Series practice and will start from the pole on Sunday.  Ty Gibbs, grandson of legendary football coach Joe Gibbs, was second, while Christian Eckes, Bret Holmes, and Michael Self completed the top five.

In Super Late Model practice, Matt Craig ended up at the top of the chart, while Josh Brock, Stephen Nasse, Donnie Wilson, and Johnny VanDoorn completed the top five.  34 different cars took time and will make for a great field on Sunday.

Sunday pit gates will open at 10:00 AM, grandstands at 11:30, ARCA pre-race ceremonies begin at 12:35 PM, with the start of the General Tire Music City 200 presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions scheduled for 1:09 PM.  The North-South Super Late Model Challenge 100 presented by Team Construction will follow, with a likely start time around 3:15.
