DuQuoin State Fair To Close Out With Sunday & Monday Events

The tradition continues this Labor Day weekend, as the roar of racing engines will echo through the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, IL on Sunday and Monday, September 6 & 7.  Three top tier divisions will be thrilling fans, young and old with Sunday’s racing at night and Monday’s during the afternoon.

A stellar list of 30+ USAC Silver Crown cars are set to go on Sunday for the Ted Horn 100.  It was just a couple of years ago that the Silver Crown Series only had a car count in the low teens for the State Fair races.  During the 2015 season, however, the travelling tour started to really turn it around as car counts grew.  Fields around 30 have been on hand at each of the two Track Enterprises shows this year, the Hoosier Hundred and the Illinois State Fair race.  The field at DuQuoin should be impressive with point leader Kody Swanson and last year’s winner, Shane Cockrum, among the favorites.

Much like USAC, the ARCA Racing Series Presented By Menards will have a large turnout of cars.  For the full bodied stock cars, it’s one of just two appearances on dirt each season, making it a favorite and memorable stop for competitors.  Among the favorites will be former NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Ken Schrader, as well as many time champion Frank Kimmel, and the winner at Springfield, A.J. Fike.  30+ drivers are scheduled to take the green on Monday at 1:30 CT.

In upwards of 20 UMP Modifieds are pre-entered into this weekend’s show with several more expected to attend.  The Modifieds will be racing in the Bill Oldani Memorial 20 lapper that pays $2,000 to the winner.  Modified prelims are held on Sunday with the feature race on Monday.

On Sunday, September 6, pits will open at 1:00, grandstands at 4:00, practice at 5:00, qualifying will start at 6:30, and racing will take the green at 7:00.  On Monday, September 7, pits open at 6:00 AM, with grandstands at 8:30, practice at 9:00, qualifying at 11:15, and the green drops on racing at 12:00.  All times central.

Grandstand admission each day is $30 for adults, while children 11 and under are $10.  Presale adult tickets are available through the end of Saturday for a $5 discount.  Tickets are available at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Box Office by calling 618-542-1535.
